Features: Pro use MD portable, designed by Marantz (Philips) in Europe. Allows full control/override of SCMS bits. Sony ATRAC 4.5, Sony drive mechanism. Battery life: NiCd: 3 hours, AA x 8 (!) 5-6 hours (est). Level sync recording for digital, line and mic inputs with pre-rec cache to avoid clipped utterance beginnings. 20s (stereo) 40s (mono) shock memory (16MB). Time and date stamp recording. Pre-write of UTOC to avoid loss of recorded material if power is unexpectedly lost. 30 second alarm before auto power off on low battery. Selectable manual or AGC recording level control with switchable recording level limiter. Mic att settings: 0dB, 15dB, 30dB. Mic filter settings: none, high pass, high and low pass (high and low cut?). Backspace button will backup a few seconds during playback, or backup to start of track during recording (to restart “take”). One touch recording will start unit recording from within any mode. “Dual mono” recording mode will record from a single mic onto two channels, with one channel at 15dB down (to create a good contingency recording in case the main channel goes into clipping).
